Introductory Workshop to “We Refugees Archive”

Digital Archive on Refugeedom, Past and Present

Our aim is to contribute to new narratives for discussing and teaching refugeedom and to innovative approaches for European/international remembrance and educational programs based on refugee voices past and present. In the workshop, we dive into the We Refugees Archive. Our project exhibits individual micro-histories and the city as a microcosm of refuge. Palermo, Vilnius, Paris, and Berlin (among others) function(ed) as unique safe havens for refugees in the past and present and serve us as a point of departure to give individuals a space to speak about their experiences of flight, arrival, and new beginnings. The archive works transhistorically and brings historical and current experiences of flight into dialogue.

In the digital event, we introduce the features and potentials of the archive and showcase the usability of documents within historical and political education purposes. There is also ample time for discussion, sharing of ideas, and brainstorming for possible future cooperations.
