Who wants whom to remember what, and why?

Insights from the Practice of European Holocaust Education: Experiences in Italy and Europe

“It is important to ask the question, who wants whom to remember what, and why? Whose version of the past is recorded and preserved…?”

(Peter Burke, Collective Memory, 2012)

In the context of commemorating the victims of the raid against Jews in Rome on October 16, 1943, we examine the approaches and challenges of  Holocaust remembrance in Italy, with a particular emphasis on the involvement of Jewish organizations in this field.

Furthermore, we explore and discuss the multiperspective approaches of our European partners in their educational offerings. This provides an opportunity to delve further into the topics covered in the presentations and reflect on how these perspectives can be effectively integrated into our own educational practices.
